I may make some enemies here, but come on folks let's put down the fancy cups of pumpkin spice latte and take a momentary side step away from chatting about how to, or how not to spell our names. Instead let's just get to the nitty gritty, where's the real coffee and the hefty slices of cake please?
1) The Attendant
Tucked away just off the hustle and bustle of Oxford Street you will find this hidden gem. Once a Victorian toilet, now a cosy coffee frenzy. This place may be small, but what it lacks in size it makes up for in caffeine and calories. I personally love the brownies, salted caramel is the one. Not a brownie person? Don’t fret there are plenty of gorgeous looking bakes to munch on. Little heads up, ironically this bundle of joy lacks a restroom - valuable information.

Nearest Tube: Goodge Street or Oxford Street
2) Maison D'être Cafe
This little cheeky independent coffee house uses local and seasonal ingredients - hello. They are also on a 'quest for the best coffee', anyone who uses the word quest gets my vote! Frankly let’s cut to the chase, order the Coconut Chia Pudding with Seasonal Fruits, Coconut Flakes & Greek Yoghurt. It comes with a flower and its edible… I’m sorry. Also - yes there is an also - chocolate tea latte, apparently that exists? Yes and it’s scrumptious. Ok fine, order what you like but don’t come to me having not tried the Chia pudding that’s all I’m saying. Just look at the picture, that really was my breakfast!

Ooooo I know what you're thinking, bit rude. For something a little different, Fuckoffee brings you Fat Whites, Dirty Chia’s and 50p biodegradable pens. What more could you want? It’s like the coffee shop with a bad side. The only word to really describe this place is ‘cool’, which ironically is possibly the most uncool phrase to describe anything. Whatever. It’s cool. Now don't expect presentation with this one, taste is the focus. For coffee lovers you should know that all coffee is organic from Papua New Guinea. Personal favourite is the almond croissant, it’s so big I’d classify it as Breakfast and Lunch in one… So I guess you call that brunch.
167 Bermondsey St, London SE1 3UW
Nearest Tube: Bermondsey or Borough
4) Exmouth Coffee Company
This might just be my favourite coffee house. Actually, yes, yes I think it is. This place doesn’t need a fancy name outside, their window display does it all. Greeted by a wall of cakes and bakes it is virtually impossible not to go inside. Once inside, that’s it. They’ve got you. I shan’t tell you what to get, because everything is incredible. EVERYTHING. Just go and have a mooch in the open kitchen and see what the chefs are rustling up
83 Whitechapel High Street E1 7QX London
Nearest Tube: Aldgate or Aldgate East
For me this is the perfect all rounder. It’s the coffee with your friends, the kill time coffee, the I’m doing important things on my laptop leave me alone coffee. You get the idea. It caters for us all. Whether you want to socialise or hibernate, this is the place. I’d recommend the Chai Latte (obviously, because I’m so original) or the iced coffee, and then any snack. I don’t carwhat your choice of snack is - possibly a Kronut - but you must be snacking. They also just won the UK independent coffee shop of the year 2015 'GOLD' award, just saying.

Nearest Tube: Leicester Square or Covent Garden
6) Choccy Woccy Doo Dah
If nothing else merely visit this place to look upon art… of the cake kind. Yes the whole shop is filled with edible goodness - think Willy Wonka style - cakes are carved into sculptures, now that’s impressive. This is not a place for the faint hearted, if you don’t have a sweet tooth don’t even bother. But, if like myself you are a dessert over starters girl, then this is the perfect place to catch a sugar high. Now there is usually a queue so I'd suggest going at a slightly unusual time or just join the 10-15 minute wait. The cakes are worth it.
